The Founders

Kerry Thomson and Louise Gilbert founded The Life Academy of New Zealand in 2008. They united through a common purpose: to live to their highest potential, to enable people to do the same, and to make a difference. They joined their skill-sets and passion believing that every individual has a higher purpose, a potential to be fulfilled and the right to freedom, health and happiness.

In 2009, once The Life Academy was established and growing, Kerry continued with the ownership, direction and tutorship of the Academy and Louise continued working as a Business Purpose Consultant in her own business; Your Purpose Consulting Ltd. They remain great friends and support one another in their work.

Kerry is a professional Bowen Therapist and runs her own private clinic in Papamoa. She has been practising Bowen Therapy for over five years and this year should complete her Masters Procedures. Her passion for healing and learning about the spiritual world of energy was ignited by her great-grandmother who was a Romany gypsy and read palms.

My desire to heal, and help others to heal themselves is a strong motivation for what I do. I believe that everyone has the capacity for self-healing, whether it be emotionally, physically, mentally or spiritually. We are holistic beings where all sides of our nature require recognition, balancing and empowering in order for us to lead whole, healthy and happy lives. I look forward to working with you, and supporting you on your journey.

Kerry became consciously aware of her spiritual path about five years ago. Her quest for exploration and desire for creating community led her to the role of President at the Mount Healing & Spiritual Centre, where she remained for four years. During that time Kerry met people from all walks of life, learning about our different needs and desire for connection to something more meaningful in life. She was also very privileged to work alongside some of the most respected healers and motivational speakers within New Zealand.

Kerry also gave her time in service at the Greerton Healing & Spiritual Centre for 18 months leaving to discover new pastures. During this time, she ran meditation and spiritual development groups on a regular basis supporting individuals to find their own inner-voice and develop skills for mastering our lives through the subtle energies that exist all around us.

Having been involved in running the spiritual centres, Kerry became aware of the increasing need for community, guidance, and direction. She became motivated to seek ways in which she could help people, help themselves and create a positive, buzzing community that everyone could connect with. She met Louise and over the course of two-years, gently unfolded the plan to unite their skills and create a business with higher purpose.

I have found that people from all walks of life are interested in releasing their personal power. You might be surprised at how many people from varying backgrounds have attended my groups in the past. The time has come for us to move forward and take the driving-seat of our lives - and that is achieved in many ways, including being open to the mind, body and spirit all working together.

Alongside Bowen Therapy, Kerry also practices her own Allergy Elimination /Energy Balancing technique which she has modified from the NAET technique. She also performs blood analysis which helps her to see what is going on in the body at any time so she can see which parts of the body are weak and need attention.

Louise Gilbert

Louise is a Business Purpose Consultant and co-founded The Life Academy of New Zealand, handing-over the ownership and management to Kerry in September 2009. Continuing on with her passion of The Spirited Business, she supports businesses and organisations in achieving their goals, using a combination of archetypal profiling, coaching, consulting and project management skills.

Moving to New Zealand as a Business Analyst, she set up her own consultancy company in 2006. For the past two years she has been consulting and coaching with businesses and individuals in the UK, US, and New Zealand. Completing her Bachelor degree in Metaphysical Sciences, she is now currently writing her thesis in order to obtain her Masters Degree.

With a background in business, and passion for achieving potential, Louise’s core interest lies in the concept of ‘The Spirited Business’ - business dedicated to serving a higher purpose. In her spare time she interviews and writes for a global enterprise called Buy1GIVE1, based in Singapore. Buy1GIVE1 is a business committed to sharing the joy of giving through uniting businesses, consumers and worthy causes. You’ll find some of her articles on this site.
